Is Royal Purple better than Amsoil? Let’s find out!

Is Royal Purple’s full synthetic 5W-30 motor better than Amsoil’s 100% synthetic 5W-30 motor oil? In this video both products go head to head in several tests. Both Amsoil and Royal Purple are very high quality synthetic motor oils. I bought both of these products using my own money. I am not sponsored by Amsoil or Royal Purple, and I do not sell Amsoil or Royal Purple products. The testing methods outlined in this video are my own and not performed using expensive oil lab testing equipment or following the ASTM, SAE or API testing standards. The three tests outlined in the video include tests for viscosity at varying temperatures, film strength, and evaporative testing. In my opinion, the testing approaches used in this video provide consumers with valuable information on choosing the right motor oil for their specific application.

Synthetic Oil vs. Regular Oil

Synthetic oil and regular oil are two of the most commonly used lubricants in the automotive industry. While they both serve the same purpose of lubricating and protecting engine components, there are several differences between them that can make one a better choice than the other in certain situations.

Royal Purple vs Amsoil

Regular oil, also known as conventional oil, is made from crude oil that has been refined and treated to remove impurities. It is a mixture of various hydrocarbons and provides basic lubrication for engines. However, conventional oil can break down quickly under high temperatures and heavy loads, leading to the formation of sludge and deposits that can harm engine components.

Synthetic oil, on the other hand, is engineered from chemical compounds, and can be designed to provide better performance than conventional oil. Synthetic oil is manufactured to have consistent molecular structures, making it less likely to break down under high temperatures and heavy loads. This results in better engine protection and improved performance, especially in high-performance engines or in extreme conditions such as hot or cold temperatures.

Another advantage of synthetic oil is that it lasts longer than conventional oil. Synthetic oil has a longer service life and can maintain its performance for a longer period of time, reducing the need for frequent oil changes. This can save vehicle owners time and money in the long run.

In terms of cost, synthetic oil is generally more expensive than regular oil. However, many vehicle manufacturers recommend the use of synthetic oil, especially for high-performance engines, to ensure optimal performance and protection. Additionally, some synthetic oils are specifically designed to meet the needs of particular vehicle types or engine designs, making them a better choice than conventional oil in these cases.

In conclusion, while both synthetic oil and regular oil serve the same purpose of lubricating and protecting engine components, synthetic oil has several advantages over conventional oil. These advantages include better engine protection and performance, a longer service life, and improved performance in extreme conditions. However, synthetic oil is generally more expensive than regular oil. The choice between synthetic oil and regular oil ultimately depends on the type of vehicle, driving conditions, and personal preference
